आज काठमाडौंमा ‘त्यो नेपाल’ को चर्चा
किताब लेखेको निकै समय भयो । यसबिचमा धेरै प्रतिक्रिया आए । प्रतिक्रिया नेपालीले मात्रै दिएनन् कि फ्रान्सेली, अंग्रेज र केहि अमेरिकि मित्रहरुको पनि पाइयो । कान्तिपुर दैनिक, नागरिक दैनिक, नेपाल साप्ताहिक म्यागाजिनमा ‘त्यो नेपाल’ बारे पुस्तक चर्चा छापिए । कान्तिपुर र नेपाल ले त सबैले पढ्नै पर्ने पुस्तक भनेर लेखे ।
तरपनि पुस्तक खुल्लमखुल्ला रुपले सार्वजनिक गर्न पाए हुन्थ्यो भन्ने मनमा थियो । त्यो संयोग आज मिलेछ । आज फ्रान्सेली सांस्क्रितिक केन्द्रमा ‘त्यो नेपाल’ बिमोचन हुँदै छ । फ्रान्सेली दूतावासका उपनियोग प्रमुख जँ रोम्निसियानुले बिमोचन गर्न लागेका हुन् । नेपालमा चासो राख्ने फ्रन्सेलीहरुबारे फ्रान्सेली सरकारले चासो दिएकालेपनि मलाई खुशि लागेको छ । यसरि हेर्दा मेहनत गरेर काम गरे, स्रिजनामक काममा लागे त्यसलाइ नियाल्ने, कदर गर्ने र राम्रो कामको मूल्यांकन गर्नेहरुले कतै न कतैबाट हेरिरहेका हुने रहेछन् भन्ने लागेको छ । आज यो पुस्तकका बारेमा के के टिप्पणी गर्लान् ? खुलदुली भने छ ।
फ्रान्सेली दूतावासका उपनियोग प्रमुखले के भन्ने हुन् ? अर्को टिप्पणी पत्रकार कनकमणी दिक्षीतले गर्ने रे । अर्का एक जना नेपालका लागि फ्रान्सका पूर्व राजदूतले टिप्पणी गर्ने भन्ने सुनेपनि को हो भन्ने मैले अझै थाह पाएको छैन । फ्रान्सेली सरकारका तर्फबाटै पुस्तकलाई महत्व दिएपनि यसमा मेरा के के कमजोरी रहे ? कसरि हेरे यो पुस्तकलाई ? कनकमणी जस्ता मेडियाका चर्चित ब्यक्तिले के औंल्याउलान् ? म कहाँ कहाँ चुकें ? प्रत्यक्ष सुन्न पाएको भए रमाइलो हुँदो हो । आफैं उपस्थित हुन पाएको भए धेरैसित परिचित भइँदो हो । पुस्तक लेख्दाका अनुभव बाँडिँदो हो । त्यसबाट चाहिँ म चुकें । तर यहि पुस्तक बिमोचनका लागि मात्रै भनेर म जान सकिन । महँगो त छँदै छ, खर्चिलोपनि उत्तिकै छ नेपाल गएर आउन । त्यसबाहेक समयपनि त चाहियो । मेरो अघिल्लो पुस्तक बिमोचनमापनि म उपस्थित भ ईन ।
यो पुस्तकका लागि फ्रान्सेली सरकारले महत्व नदिएको भए दूतावासका कर्मचारीले पक्कै संलग्नता नदेखाउँदा हुन् । फ्रान्सेली सांस्क्रितिक केन्द्र र ‘त्यो नेपाल’ को प्रकाशक जगदम्बा प्रकाशनको संयुक्त नाममा निम्ता बाँडिएको छ । निम्ता दिँदापनि त्यो पुस्तकबारे फ्रान्सेली, अंग्रेजी र नेपाली भाषामा जानकारि दिएको छ । त्यसबाहेक पुस्तकका २९ जना पात्रकै बारेमा अध्ययन र अनुसन्धान गर्न चाहनेहरुकालगि भनेर छोटो छोटो जानकारि समेत बाँडिएको रहेछ । यसबाट बुझियो, प्रकाशक र फ्रान्सेली सरकार दुबैले राम्रो महत्व दिए ।
पाँच वर्ष भन्दा लामो समयको खोज, लेखन, दुख र खटाइपछि जुन प्रतिक्रिया पाएँ त्यसले मलाई राम्रै काम र राम्रो खाले पुस्तकमा मन लगाएछु भन्ने लागेको हो । त्यो पुस्तक सम्पादन गर्ने मित्र विनोद ढुंगेलको समय, सिप, मित्रताको सद्भाव र क्षमताले गर्दापनि यति संभव भएको हो । अहिलेसम्म पाएको प्रतिक्रियाले म हौसिएको छु । बिमोचनको निम्ता बाँड्दा पुस्तक बारे जानकारी दिन बाँडिएको निम्तापत्रसँगै दिएको जानकारी मन लागे तल हेर्नुस् है त ?

सन् १९४९ मा स्थापना भएको फ्रान्स नेपाल दौत्य सम्बन्धले औपचारिक रुपमा नै दुई देश बीचको सहयोग तथा संस्क्रिति आदानप्रदानको ढोका खोल्यो । राजनीतिक, कुटनितिक, सांस्क्रितिक, आर्थिक, व्यापारिक, वैज्ञानिक र पर्यटकिय क्षेत्रहरु ओगटेको यो सम्बन्धले दुबै देशका नागरिकलाई एक अर्काको नजिक ल्यायो । यो क्रम सन् १९९० को दशकसम्म जारी रह्यो। सन् १९९० को दशकपछि भने माओवादी द्वन्दका कारण सांस्क्रितिक आदान प्रदान र पर्यटकिय भ्रमणहरुमा कमी आएको महसुस गरियो ।
यति लामो सम्बन्ध रहेपनि फ्रान्स नेपाल संबन्धका कुनैपनि किताबहरु प्रकाशित भएका भेटिँदैनन् । यसैको अभाव पूर्ती गर्ने गरि नेपालसित जानकार र बिभिन्न समयमा छुट्टा छुट्टै प्रायोजनका लागि नेपाल आएका फ्रान्सेलीहरुको नेपाल अनुभवका बारेमा सम्बन्धित ब्यक्तिहरुसँगै लिईएको अन्तर्वर्ताको आधारमा यो पुस्तक तयार भएको छ ।
यो पुस्तकमा मानवशास्त्री, हिमालाअरोही, राजनीतिकर्मी, कूटनीतिज्ञ, वैज्ञानिक, पाईलट, रंगकर्मी आदि अटाएका छन् । पात्रहरुले दिएका जानकारी कोहि अनुभवबाट अभिव्यक्त भोगाइ छन् त कोहि अनुसन्धानबाट प्राप्त बुझाई । सन् १९५२ मा नेपाली हिमालमा पहिलो पटक पाइला राख्ने मोरिस हेर्जोक देखि राजा विरेन्द्रका शिक्षक मार्क गाबोरियोसम्म मात्रै होइन सगरमाथाको चुचुरोमा हेलिकोप्टर अड्याएको दाबी गर्दै विवादमा परेका देलसाल हुन् अथवा हिमाली कथालाई ओस्कारसम्म पुर्याउन सफल चलचित्र निर्मता तथा निर्देशक एरिक भाली जस्ता जम्मा २९ जना फ्रान्सेलीका नेपाल अनुभवहरु यो पुस्तकमा समेटिएका छन् ।
लेखकको बारेमा : ददि सापकोटाले आफ्नो व्यावसायिक क्रियाकलाप एक पत्रकारको रुपमा शुरु गर्नु भएको थियो । उहाँले बातावरण र बन्यजन्तु सम्बन्धि विषयमा लेख्नु भएको छ र उहाँ फ्रान्सेली संस्क्रिति रुचाउने व्यक्ति हुनुहुन्छ । हाल उहाँ नेपाललाई मन पराउने बिदेशी व्यक्तिहरुको बारेमा खोज गरिरहनुभएको छ ।

The diplomatic relations established between Nepal and France in 1949 opened the door for cooperation and cultural exchange between the two countries. The relation between France and Nepal covering a wide range of activities in the political, diplomatic, cultural, economic, scientific, and tourism sectors brought the people of two countries much closer. This continued well into the 1990s. However, a lull was felt in an otherwise vibrant relation after the beginning of the Maoist conflict.
Despite this long interchange, there are still no publications dedicated to France-Nepal relations. This book has been published to fill that lacuna, and is based on the interviews of 29 French nationals who came to Nepal for different purposes, for their work or interest, and eventually ended up forming special bond with Nepal and the Nepalese people. For instance, there are recollections of anthropologists Gerard Toffin, Philip Ramirez, naturalist Jean F. Dobremez, filmmaker Eric Valli, and a host of other individuals belonging to the field of politics, diplomacy, science, aviation, and arts.
The interviews were conducted in French, and the transcripts later translated into Nepali. The publication of this book in the Nepali language, we believe, will help disseminate the views and ideas expressed by eminent French nationals, and these interesting accounts of France-Nepal relationship to the wider Nepali public.

Dadi Sapkota started his career as a journalist. He has written on environment and wildlife issues, is a Francophile and currently on the lookout for foreigners who love Nepal.

Les relations diplomatiques établies entre le Népal et la France en 1949 ont ouvert la voie à une coopération et des échanges culturels entre les deux pays. Les relations tissées entre la France et le Népal, dans de nombreux secteurs d’activité tels que la politique, la diplomatie, la culture, l’économie, les sciences et le tourisme, ont favorisé un rapprochement entre ces deux peuples, et ce jusque dans les années 90. Toutefois, ces relations jusque là florissantes ont subi un revers suite à la survenue du conflit maoïste.
En dépit de ces multiples échanges, il n’existe aucune publication concernant les relations franco-népalaises. Ce livre, publié afin de combler cette lacune, est basé sur 29 entretiens menés auprès de ressortissants français venus au Népal pour différentes raisons, d’ordre personnel ou privé, et ayant tissé des liens privilégiés avec le Népal et les népalais. On y trouvera, entre autres, les témoignages des anthropologistes Gérard Toffin et Philipe Ramirez, du naturaliste Jean-François Dobremez, du réalisateur Eric Valli, ainsi que ceux de nombreuses autres personnes issues du monde de la politique, de la diplomatie, des sciences, de l’aviation et des arts.
Les entretiens ont été menés en français, puis transcrits vers le népali. Nous pensons que la publication de cet ouvrage en népali participera à la diffusion des perceptions et des idées d’éminents ressortissants français, ainsi que ces passionnants témoignages des relations franco-népalaise, auprès d’un large public au Népal.
